• Our History

Riza Cakir, the grandfather who shares the owner's name, had no idea when he started adapting industrial engines for marine use, machining power shafts and propellers that our company would grow to what it is today. His concern was simply to feed his family, do a good job, and meet local demand.These simple ambitions paid off  when the boating started to grow as a sport  and he was getting  more and more inquiries from different parts of Turkey.

Our company grew slowly during these early years.Riza’s eldest son became expert at fitting and refurbishing ZF and Hurth marine gearboxes. After graduation from technical university, Riza’s youngest son joined the family company in the 1980s. The two brothers, who loved the sea and were keen yachtsmen, realised their ambition when an opportunity came up to open a yachting center in Gocek. Here they opened a different workshop to provide technical services for a limited number of yachts in the harbour. 

 

This contributed to the development of Gocek Marina, which opened in 1996. The Marina vastly increased the numbers of boats and yachts in the area. As a consequence our company opened a Showroom and Chandlery representing major maritime brands and stocking a range of equipment including technical systems, engines, generators, gearboxes and navigation equipment.

 

Today my brother and I represent the third generation of the company. We have been involved in this business since childhood. My brother recently qualified as a marine designer and since graduated as a Marine Engineer, I worked for a number of Super-Yacht yards in Europe, before taking the role of General Manager of Emek Marin in 2010. Our customers have always been treated as part of our family as well as our business over the generations.

 

The sea offers us many challenges and sometimes implies danger as well .True yachts-people share the risks and the beauty of sea  with a depth of feeling commonly reserved for poets. We enjoy such people. They bring wonderful stories and share them with those who appreciate a yachting lifestyle .My wish is to help as many people who value the  yachting life and to share my vision of a safe global circumnavigation.

 

Emek Marin now has 3 different divisions under a family holding company each aiming at to build up genuine customer care and satisfaction: Technical Service , Refit Distribution of technical equipment ,Brokerage

 

We specialize in preparing boats for long distance cruising, selling yachts to bluewater cruisers and distributing technical equipment of high quality brands as well as refitting blue-water cruisers.

 

Our main depot today has 18 staff members. To meet the growing needs of customers we also will travel to various international and local destinations in order to render assistance.
